How to handle home and baby like a pro - Tips

Weeks after giving birth, you start dreaming that when your baby grows into a toddler, you will be a little free as you don't have to nurse them frequently and that their wake-sleep cycle must have regularized by then.

But, when they get into that six months+ age group picking up random stuff from the floor and putting it into their mouth, pulling out stuff from the kitchen cabinets, and climbing up the wardrobe racks, you start thinking how peaceful you were holding them safely in your arms breastfeeding them a few months before. Parenthood is definitely not a cake walk but not as difficult as it is usually said. With a little planning, you should be able to go through this like a pro!

Here is a list of handcrafted tips that have been collected from new mommies globally that helped them get through the roller coaster-like journey of handling the baby and home with ease! Here, we go -

Cooking and baby caretaking:

For cooking, it is always better to plan for a week ahead. You can buy veggies, meat, and groceries for the whole week online to save time. Decide on what needs to be cooked the next day and keep the kitchen ready for that. For instance, you can chop veggies the previous day and store them in the fridge. Clean the kitchen every night before you sleep so that the chances of cooking in the morning are relatively higher.

Also, wake a little earlier before the baby wakes up and try finishing cooking for the whole day in the morning itself. Cook hush so that you don’t wake your little one. You can also carry a baby at your back in a carrier bag while cooking in case he wakes up cranky. High chairs also come in handy while cooking with babies older than six months.

Place them in the kitchen a little away from the cooking platform, engage them in a few activities, talk to them, and watch them as you cook.

Cleaning the house:

When you are a new mom, the house always seems messy with piles of dishes and laundry to be done. That’s okay. Seek help from your partner in household chores like laundry, cleaning the dishes, and mopping the floor. If you have to do it by yourself, whenever you get the time and feel like doing it. Rest for you is as important as your baby’s sleep. If someone mocks at the mess in your kitchen or laundry room, smile and give them the duster or the detergent!

Create a calendar for chores:

Allocate separate days in a week for tasks like laundry, bathroom cleaning, and kitchen cleaning. If it is not possible to do the chore on any assigned day, do not stress. You can do it some other day later.

Try putting your baby to sleep early:

We know that it is not as easy as said. However, there are a few things that you can try to make your baby follow a sleep-wake routine. When it is time to sleep, keep the room dimly lit and give the baby a hint that it is time to sleep. Avoid talking to the baby and cuddling them at sleep time. You can instead choose to sing or read for the baby. Also, try to wake up 15 minutes before the baby wakes up. That will give you the needed me-time to get charged for the day.

Keep the baby things organized

This is one thing that parents and new moms swear by. It is much easier to be organized than to clean up the mess. Ensure you keep the baby clothes, baby products like powders, napkins, rash creams, and wipes within an easy reach and neatly organized. Every time you use them, put them back in the designated place immediately. It takes a few seconds to do it with the flow. But when you let them go for a while, the powder box that rolled off is going to lie on the floor for the next few days.

Buy toy boxes with lids

Babies and toys are inseparable in every home, and it is a usual sight to see toys scattered all around the house. However, it is a good idea to keep at least your bedroom and baby’s room free of clutter, atleast at night. Invest in a few big and sturdy boxes with lids to store all the toys. You can easily stuff all the toys into these boxes and cover them with lids to make them look tidy. These boxes can also be stacked one above the other to save space.

Dress your baby comfortably.

Dressing your baby in comfortable clothing is something that you should pay attention to. These days organic clothing like girl baby tops and rompers for babies are readily available and protect your baby from rashes and harsh synthetic material. In summers, get them dressed in breathable clothes, and in winters, get them dressed in layers or with baby knitwear Australia, so that their ideal body temperature is maintained and they don’t get cranky.

Tips for the work from home moms

Work-and-parent-from-home has become the new normal globally. Baby Carrier bags come in handy when you want to work, as most babies come down quickly when on the bag. You can walk around and talk on the phone or place your system on a table and do your job as you rock the baby in the carrier bag standing.

We hope that these tips come in handy in handling your baby, work, and home. Thanks for reading!
